Trunnion Roller

The heavy duty Trunnion Rollers support the mixing drum that ride against precisely machined Trunnion Rings. The Trunnion Rollers are machined from hardened steel or solid nylon depends upon the nature of the application for which these rollers will be used. Every Trunnion Roller has a plain cylindrical peripheral surface and this surface rollingly engages the cylindrical periphery of its tire.

The Structure of Trunnion Rollers
The structure of the trunnion rollers is in such that these must be adjustable in the horizontal direction. This arrangement is transverse to their axes. To that end, each trunnion roller can be mounted on its own base structure. The base structure of each trunnion roller can be adjusted on its frame by sliding process. On each base structure, there is a gear box and through this gearbox, the trunnion roller of the base structure is driven from an electric motor. For drum rotation, usually there are two electric motors. Each electric motor is for a single pair of trunnion rollers. In between the pair of a trunnion rollers, the electric motor is mounted on the frame.

Application of Trunnion Roller in Coal Mines
When the hopper car is rolled down an incline to a mechanical dumper, the loading process of coal begins. The mechanical dumper is activated by trunnion rollers. Coal is dumped through a hopper by the mechanical dumper onto the conveyor belts. The coal is carried to the loading tower by the belts, and from which it is poured into the hold of the ship. At each end of the dumper, the trunnion rollers are located.
